RRB Assistant Loco Pilot  Selection Process

The Railway Recruitment Board follows a strict, five-stage recruitment process for the Assistant Loco Pilot position. You must clear each stage sequentially to move on to the next.

1. First Stage CBT (CBT-1)
   1. This is purely a screening exam used to shortlist eligible candidates for the next round.
   1. The marks you score in CBT-1 will not be counted when preparing the final merit panel.
2. Second Stage CBT (CBT-2)
   1. Candidates are shortlisted for this stage at a rate of 15 times the number of vacancies notified for their chosen RRB.
   1. It consists of Part-A and Part-B. Only your marks in Part-A are used for further shortlisting, provided you secure the mandatory qualifying marks (35%) in Part-B.
3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
   1. Candidates equal to 8 times the total ALP vacancies are shortlisted for the CBAT based on their performance in Part-A of CBT-2.
   1. You must produce a valid Self-Screening Medical Declaration Report in the prescribed format during this stage to be permitted to appear.
4. Document Verification (DV)
   1. A combined merit list is prepared by giving a 50:50 weightage to your marks obtained in Part-A of CBT-2 and your CBAT score.
   1. Based on this combined merit, candidates exactly equal to the number of vacancies are called in for document verification and medical examination.
5. Medical Examination (ME)
   1. The final hurdle! Your appointment is strictly subject to passing the requisite Medical Fitness Test conducted by the Railway Administration. For ALP, this means clearing the stringent “A-1” visual acuity and general fitness standards.

RRB ALP Recruitment Application Fee 2026

The examination fee must be paid online via internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.

• General Candidates: The application fee is Rs. 500. An amount of Rs. 400 will be refunded (after deducting bank charges) to candidates who actually appear for the 1st Stage CBT.
• Concession Categories: Candidates belonging to SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, Female, Transgender, Minorities, and Economically Backward Class (EBC) are required to pay a reduced fee of Rs. 250. This entire fee of Rs. 250 will be refunded (deducting applicable bank charges) upon appearing for the 1st Stage CBT.
• Only candidates who attend the CBT-1 examination will be eligible for the fee refund. Refunds will be credited to the Aadhaar-seeded bank account validated during the application process.

Selected candidates for the Assistant Loco Pilot position will enjoy a competitive salary structure along with standard government allowances.

• The post is classified under Pay Level-2 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).

Assistant Loco Pilot Application Required Documents
