The total tentative vacancies are approximately 12,256. Updated post-wise and category-wise vacancies will be made available on the official website of the Commission. Educational Qualifications & Age Restrictions
Before applying, ensure you meet the criteria set by the SSC.
Educational Qualification (As of 01.08.2026):
- Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer: Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree (Desirable: Chartered Accountant, Cost & Management Accountant, Company Secretary, Masters in Commerce, or MBA in Finance).
- Junior Statistical Officer (JSO): Bachelor’s Degree with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level, OR a Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level.
- Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Bachelor degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Demography, Population Studies, Operation Research, IT, Computer Science, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence.
- All Other Posts: Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent. Candidates in their final year can also apply if they possess the qualification by 01.08.2026.
Age Rules & Restrictions (As on 01.08.2026):
- Age Limits: Depending on the specific post applied for, the age limits fall into four brackets: 18-27 years, 20-30 years, 18-30 years, and 18-32 years.
- Age Relaxations:
- SC/ST: 5 Years
- OBC: 3 Years
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 to 15 Years (depending on category)
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered
- Additional relaxations exist for Central Govt. Civilian Employees and Widows/Divorced Women.
SSC CGL Application Fee
- General / OBC / EWS: Rs. 100/-.
- Women / SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen: Exempted from fee payment.

The Selection Process of SSC CGL
Selection is based on a two-tier Computer Based Examination (CBE).
- Tier-I Exam: Mandatory for all candidates. It consists of objective multiple-choice questions.
- Tier-II Exam: Candidates shortlisted in Tier-I will appear for Tier-II. It includes Paper-I (mandatory for all), Paper-II (only for JSO and Statistical Investigator), and Paper-III (only for AAO).
- Document Verification (DV): Conducted by User Departments/Organizations after the declaration of the final result.
Steps to Fill SSC CGL Online Form
To ensure your application isn’t rejected, follow this sequence:
- Step 1: Visit the official SSC website (https://ssc.gov.in).
- Step 2: Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new website if you haven’t already. OTRs from the old website are not functional.
- Step 3: Fill in your details. Ensure all information is correct.
- Step 4: Live Photo Capture: You must capture a live photo directly through the application module (webcam/mobile). Do not upload a pre-existing photograph, or your application will be rejected.
- Step 5: Upload your scanned signature in JPEG/JPG format (10-20 KB).
- Step 6: Pay the required fee online (if applicable) and submit the application.

Important Rules and Notes to Know
- Negative Marking: In Tier-I, there is a penalty of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer. In Tier-II, there is a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Sections I, II, and III of Paper-I, and 0.50 marks in Paper-II and Paper-III.
- Valid Identity Proofs: On exam day, you must bring your downloaded Admission Certificate, two passport-size photos, and a valid original photo ID proof. Accepted IDs include Aadhaar Card/E-Aadhaar, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID, Driving License, or a Government/Employer ID.
- Correction Window: A correction window will open from 29.06.2026 to 01.07.2026. A fee of Rs. 200/- is charged for the first correction, and Rs. 500/- for the second correction.
FAQs – SSC CGL Recruitment 2026
1. Is there negative marking in the SSC CGL examination? Yes. In Tier-I, 0.50 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. In Tier-II (Paper-I), 1 mark is deducted for wrong answers in Section-I, Section-II, and Section-III.
